Dorm Life Episode 224 - Quiz Bowl
Okay, recap time of 224:Quiz Bowl
More digression into the mind of History Bowl: Had to say that when I saw the title was Quiz Bowl. Like I said last recap, quiz bowl was some of my favorite memories from high school, so to see Dorm Life cover it made me extremely happy.
Anyway, Danny B. and Shane are quizzing each other to help prepare (Shane with sports and Danny B. with geography. Have to say that Djbouti is one of my favorite geography questions) We find out that 5-South will be competing with 5-North in an ultimate college bowl. The 5-South team will be Danny B.-the leader with the know-it-all knowledge in everything, Josh with his knowledge of the arts, and Shane with his sports knowledge. Shane believes himself as "the computer that wore tennis shoes" (great reference by the way) and we finally get to see his velcro shoes.
We get to see more Yassi and Marshall insult/flirt with each other. This is realy great because we know that they are competing with each other for the ra of the year but you can really sense that Yassi is just thrilled with the honor while Marshall is trying to win it at all cost. (Kinda like the Oscars)
Danny B. finally realizes that Josh is still "homeless" so he has to make due with Linda. Britt wonders why Danny B didn't ask Mike instead of Linda. Mike responds that Danny B didn't want his expert to be average. Britt has probably the best line of the episode with, "Danny B. is kind of a jerk" which seems to be the theme in this episode.
Next week better be a Court-heavy week since all we got this week was a camera stroll by as he was holding the message board scoreboard. Ditto for Steph since Steph wasn't even in this week's episode.
I guess this was the big Danny B. after the break-up and it looks like he is taking it well. I mean basically it was Danny B. at the quiz bowl. Danny B. was great and stomped the 5-North team who basically swept the sun category and were three mini-Deans. (Could you imagine Dorm Life with 5 North? It would basically be Woodstock in a Dorm) 5- South beat 5-North by approximately 70 points after Danny B. had to answer a sports question that ended up being about Gerald Ford due to Shane being asleep.
The star of the week had to be Dean. Dean, in his largest part to date besides Teamwork from late Season 1, was the Alex Trebek for College Bowl. He was his usual loving self except when he wanted Danny B. to give 5 North a chance to answer some. But, he was hilarious.
Meanwhile, the SOJ saga continue as SOJ was chopping wood and Abby and Gopher were watching him. Gopher asked sweetly if he needed to be chopping wood which Abby didn't know what to gesture. Gopher then asked the Million Dollar Question or however much Abby's horse which is you're paying him a horse to marry you. Abby again didn't know what to gesture. During the quiz bowl, a question about the Scopes Monkey Trial and the theory of evolution came up. SOJ didn't want Abby to hearing about evolution and Gopher said that although he didn't believe quizzes either, Abby wanted to be there to support her floor which SOJ understood completely. After the epic win, SOJ decided to support his adopted floor by firing a gun-inside-at the ceiling. After the tackling and getting to sent to jail for the night, he used his one call to call Abby to get him out. However, Abby just left the phone dangle as she went back upstairs.
My Thoughts
My hopes were so high to see some awesome quiz bowl action and I was not disappointed. I was however disappointed as Danny B. talking to Mike the way he does because ever since "Abby's Party". I'm glad that Gopher is turning out to be a standout guy for Abby's sake. This is making the whole SOJ thing is an easy decision for Abby. SOJ fires guns and chops wood in an urban college campus. Gopher befriends her to understand her ways and writes her pretty songs. Points goes to Gopher.
My third favorite line goes to Yassi after Marshall insults to the team for being low scoring and Yassi gets a nice rebuttal of "I thought the RA of the Year wouldn't have such a low sperm count" and Marshall said, "How did you know?" Priceless. Good episode
