"Are You Kidding Me?"-Dorm Life 225

We are at the cusp of the season/series finale (we don't know yet) of Dorm Life and it has felt like a marathon or a roller coaster. Before we start going over Dormal, two things to know
1. My pre-Dormal theory on how Dorm Life would end for the season as posted on the Dorm Life message board at IMDB.
The horse will die and Elijah will go back to where he belongs. Abby and Gopher will get together.
Britt and Mike willl reveal that they have been hiding their relationship since Spring Break because they value their privacy.
Marshall will win RA of the Year but he will be brought down on his embezzlement charges (I borrowed this one from Tommy Kleyn. He is part of Tomnlis, the two that do Dorm Life recaps on YouTube. I highly recommend them.)
Dean will realize that Steph not Marshall brought the floor together and will offer her a position as an RA
Josh will come back with his work as a homeless person and the floor will welcome back with open arms although they are a little cautious due to his "documentary".
Danny B. will start to date around and learn how not to date psychos.
Court will become a major recording artist but remain awesome Court
2. "Dormal" got up at 7:30 (CST) last night and I tried until 5:30 today to get it work and then one of my friends Cameron told me to watch on another browser and it worked instantly. That's why the title of the blog is "Are You Kidding Me?" and it just happens that it's a quote from the episode.

All right, on to the recap of Dormal
Dormal is a dorm formal for the building. The whole floor going due to the urging of Steph who is super excited. Court and Britt are going for a while due to the fact that XXX is off social probation and the first event is the same night. Dormal is the big night that they reveal the RA of the Year so Marshall will be there. Meanwhile Court has been getting Abby and Linda all "gussied up" for the Dormal. Abby looked amazing and adorable but we really couldn't tell what Linda looked like due to the blurred face.
The floor is off to dormal except for Linda who is telling us that she ran for Miss Florida 1996 but got beat out for Jamie Bolding (which is who Miss Florida 1996 really was, according to Wikipedia. Good job researching, Dorm Life writers!) Then who pops up behind but Josh? Josh has come back because he has realized that he needs "his friends and his floor" and he is kicking out Linda. He says, "You don't have to go home but you can't stay here". In one of those "you only catch it on second watch" moments, Josh just referenced one of my favorite songs "Closing Time" by Semisonic. Josh is quickly becoming the pop culture reference machine of "Dorm Life"
Steph is also all gussied in her wheelchair when she comes across Mike. She asks him if he has a date and he says no. He then asks Steph to be his date which was really sweet. Then Steph says no, I have my date. Her date was a balloon head on her wheelchair dressed up named "Wheel-iam". Mike was really cool about it. But Steph was kind of rude about not wanting to go with Mike which was really not nice.
5-South arrives at Dormal or "A Luau Under the Sea". Just for the record, you can't have a luau under the sea. Oh well. It looks like 5-South is the only people there besides Dean, Yassi, and a couple of people from 5-North. Dean and Yassi are doing hug tag and invite Marshall to join. Marshall is a jerk and says no he can't because he wants to be with his floor. He then talks about Yassi's nose (which perpetuates the rumor about her doing drugs which is a total lie).
Anyway, much of the episode is just 5-South hanging out at dormal. Josh makes up with Mike which we see but hear, which is totally appropriate. Josh is seen talking to his ex Kate which is fine. The floor takes pictures because they will last longer. Marshall is acting like a total jerk. Lacey comes back to make sure that Danny B. will talk to her very soon. Mike and Britt dance together. SOJ is still in jail so Abby and Gopher hang out and tell each other secrets. Court and Britt decide to not go to the XXX function because Court wants to stay because "some of the floor are my friends".
We get the moment that we have waiting for since "Selling Out"-the announcement of RA of the Year. Unfortunately, the moment we have dreaded happened-Marshall Adams the First is selected RA of the Year. Of course, Marshall does a victory dances and says one of his favorite lines "We Are Marshall". He then accepts the dreamcatcher trophy (so very Dean)and decides to talk about his greatest inspiration-himself. He then insults Yassi some more.
With everyone stunned and comforting Yassi, Marshall comes up to Steph and basically asks her for a booty call. Steph then gets out of her wheelchair and tells him off the way he deserved. She basically said that Marshall just manipulated Dean to get the award and everybody on the floor and Yassi deserved it more than him. She also felt sad for him for being so mean and manipulative. With that, Steph finally has found a balance between domineering bitch (pardon my French) and doormat and it is her greatest moment on the show so far. Her character has accomplished her objective on the show.
After this moment, Shane plays piano and everyone dances. Marshall goes outside so overwhelmed that his ex who thought was an easy lay just stood up for herself against him. Linda talks to him and tells him that he has lost everything he wanted. Marshall then says "I need to be a better man" (Is this a reference to the song "Spoon" by Dorm Life's favorite band, Lady Danville? I think it is) Just when you can kind of see a friendship bloom betwen him and Linda, Josh comes in and invites Linda into the dance. Marshall is all alone, echoing how Mike felt at the beginning of the semester. Very King Lear way to end things in this episode....Oh wait, there's more.
While they are dancing, Mike and Britt KISSSSSSSS!!!!!!! Of course, their friends are extremely excited (Cue the montage of "It finally happened" in varying matters of excitement and of course Shane's "Uh, what did I miss?) Danny B. and Yassi were also dancing and looking very close.
Dean is telling us about how successful Dormal was. Then he explains his reasoning as he hated his job and he wanted to put on someone else. It is one of those Dorm Life twists you really don't see coming. Both seasons, Marsh has done some serious sucking up and it has been all for naught because Dean has suspected the whole entire time.
Cue the credits and the after-credits scene where Mike and Britt are kissing AGAIN!! but decide that it was too awkward and forced by their close friends and people they didn't even know. The boom guy named Terry then throws an epic throw because "You were perfect!" And in other news, thousands of Dorm Life fans says "Amen, hallelujah, Terry talks the truth." Mike ends the episode with we kissed though, which isn't good enough
End of Part One of the Season finale.

My Thoughts
An amazing episode and quite frankly it's going either first or second greatest episode of the series.
It certainly made up for the lack of plot that happened in Quiz Bowl. It didn't mess what the plot that was advanced in QB which was Goby (Gopher and Abby). It advanced every other storyline
Mike and Britt kissed
Steph officially told off Marsh
Danny B. is closer to finding a nice girl in Yassi and putting the way the psycho hot mess that is Lacey
Marsh won RA of the year and is Residential Director for next year but doesn't realize how much actual work it is
What storylines are left for the other half of the season finale "Moving Out"
The (hopeful) conclusion to the SOJ-Goby epic and by that I mean Goby must win over SOJ
Mike and Britt telling the floor they are just good friends (much like Jerry and Elaine in Seinfeld) with too much pressure to actually have a romance.
Amazing
Can't wait for next episode
