I have thought long and hard about the bottom three of my top ten. (So much so, that I will be posting a Top 10 Contenders List in the future.) So, the bottom three could have been anything and if you ask me in a year, they may not even be in my list.
Have I been enough of a Ryan Seacrest.
Okay, my number 8 film is.....
An Education.
This is a movie that has left an impact on me since I first watched it in 2010. It was one of the first movies I ever got from Netflix through their DVD services and I heard nothing but high remarks for it and especially for Carey Mulligan's Academy Award nominated performance. It is one of those movies that lives up to the hype. It is just a nice little movie that should be remembered more.
The plot is this: It's the swinging '60s in London. Book-smart sixteen year old Jenny is pressured by her middle-class parents to do well enough to get into Oxford by being orchestra and doing homework all the time. So, when a much older gentleman named David becomes enchanted with her, her life changes forever as she becomes aware that become more worldly isn't necessarily everything that Jenny wanted.
The performances are great. The script is amazing. Please go watch this movie right now! Carey Mulligan should be a bigger star simply based on this performance. The hype was correct with the fact that she has a very Audrey Hepburn like appeal.
