Welcome back! We are going to get started today with the Pilot
(WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD IF YOU DIDN’T WATCH THE PILOT)
DVD PLOT: Liz Parker discovers a fellow high school classmate has otherworldly powers when she’s shot during an altercation at the Crashdown Café.
Or In Maury or Jerry Springer Speak: Help! An Alien Saved My Life…..Oh Wait, I Am In Love with Him Now. Never Mind.
The episode will have more general plot because it is the pilot.
General Plot in Keypoints:
• Liz Parker got shot and died. She was brought back to life by Max Evans.
• They try to cover the shooting up by saying that Liz fell into a bottle of ketchup but they have to deal with two pesky alien enthusiasts and a suspicious Sheriff Valenti
• Liz confronts Max and he reveals that he is indeed an alien. He tells her not to tell anyone.
• Actually, he is not alone. His sister Isabel and his best friend Michael are also aliens. Both of them are pissed that Max broke their sacred pact not to use their powers. Imagine how they will feel if they knew Max told Liz the truth? Oh wait, they do find out and they are way more pissed. Michael wants to leave while Max wants to stay.
• Liz’s best friend, Maria, is worried about what happened and wants to know the truth. Their other best friend, Alex, assumes Liz is telling them a truth.
• Maria finds Liz’s order book covered in blood with a bullet hole and is super suspicious.
• Sheriff Valenti pulls the three aliens over and notices a clinking Tabasco bottle which was at their table at the diner the day Liz was shot.
• Liz goes on a date with Kyle, her boyfriend and Sheriff Valenti’s son. He notices the handprint that was left by Max when he healed her.
• Max shows Liz what he sees when he sees her. Liz falls in love.
• Alex confronts Liz about what Maria has said. Liz has comforted him long enough until the police come to ask her questions.
• Sheriff Valenti shows Liz some pictures of a deceased man with no causes of death except for a similar handprint to Liz. Valenti reveals that Kyle has told him about Liz’s. The pictures are from 1959. Valenti questions Liz about Max and then has magically received her book bag with the bloody and holey waitress uniform in it. Valenti gives the uniform to the FBI which promptly says “Thanks for wasting our time. We’ll see ya when we see ya. And by wasting our time, I mean we’ll be in charge.” Agent Stevens reveals that Sheriff Valenti’s father was alien-crazed and was referred to by the agency as Sergeant Martian.
• Liz confronts Max again with a list of questions. Max reveals that he has no idea where he’s from. All he knows is that he was an incubation pod with Michael and Isabel when the plane crashed in 1947. Some powers they have is connection with people and manipulating molecular structures. Liz reveals that Valenti is after Max. Max decides to hightail it out of Roswell with Michael and Isabel.
• Liz tells Maria about Max, Michael and Isabel. She promptly freaks out.
• Liz, Maria, Max, Michael, and Isabel catch up to each other and decide to scheme together against Valenti. To describe the theme would be pointless because I still get confused. Basically, Valenti arrests Max while Isabel “hits” Maria with Maria’s car. Michael (IN DISGUISE) leaves a similar handprint on Maria. Valenti runs after the disguised alien only to show that he was duped two ways: first he was chasing after Kyle and second, the handprint was in paint. He tells Max that he is onto them and he will get them eventually because he wants to know if his father was right.
• Max and Liz decide they can’t be together because they are different. Liz is in love with him still because he brought her to life.
Notes:
• This show is developed by Jason Katims, who is now famous for creating Friday Night Lights. Will we see some similarities.
• Remember what the Crashdown Café looks like and the layout to Liz’s and Max’s houses. It might look different in the future.
• Most original alien power (for now) might have to be Isabel’s ability to listen to a cd by holding it by her ear. If only she could do that with an iPod
• I wonder if the “Arrive Alive” campaign was created before or after Roswell. If it was after someone owes Jason Katims some money.
• Michael is from a poorer family while the Evans are a little more well-to-do. Remember that.
• Max looks good in a suit. Other than that, not so much for me.
• Did Michael cop a feel when he left the handprint on Maria? Awkward positioning is why I ask.
• The last scene between Liz and Max can definitely sell anybody on their relationship. The chemistry is so amazing and Shiri and Jason act the hell out of it.
• The dvds and syndication of Roswell are well known for losing the majority of the music because of music rights. There are 5 really notable exceptions , two of which occur here: Sarah Machlachlan’s song that happens when Liz and Max connect twice and “Crash Into Me” by Dave Matthews Band which accompanies the last scenes..
Rating:
9.5/10 Blood of Alien Smoothies. It is addictive with both the alien mythology storyline and the human love storylines. Definitely want to watch more. My only complaint is why does Katharine Heigl always come off as stuck up?

• Maria: You are on your way to being a world-renowned scientist. I was gonna be your wacky friend. Where does this leave me? I can’t be a friend to someone who’s already wacky. It’d be redundant.
